the Naginata-hoko(float) is the only float where chigo, the sacred child gets aboard.
Dolls are placed instead on other floats.
When the sacred child on the float cuts the sacred rope, the parade begins.
This child in the photo was rehearsing with an adult assisting him from behind two days before the parade.

Minazuki
Minazuki is an old name of June.
June 30 is the end of the first half of a year.
This cake , named after June has been eaten on June 30 in Kyoto, to get purified and ward off the evils.
The triangular is formed after a piece of ice.
In the imperial court in ancient days, a piece of ice ,which was available only to the noble, was taken, to get through the summer heat.
