At department stores, probably you'd get mass-produced brand new sets, like these ones.
I’d rather explore the old ones from a century ago or two, getting handed down from generation to generation.
You see ‘the Empress doll’ on their left, and ‘the Emperor doll’ on their right. This is Kyoto style placement, which is different from the standard placement.
Thanks for your kind explanation. In other words, whether they have a boy or a girl or no child at all, if they want to decorate their room, they can do it! Actually, they have don't that, haven't they? So I thought that it's like Christmas trees, for example. No matter what their religion is they love decorating Christmas trees -even though they are Jewish or Buddhist. In any case, I am glad you had a wonderful time during the festival.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I have read and enjoyed half the book, Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart. The writing is very sensitive and highly fluid. The main character, Larry, is very disciplined, funny, and emotional. Eunice Park, a young Korean-American girl, sounds more independent compared to her sister. Eunice meets Lenny'/ parents in Long Island, NY, for the first time, and it is intriguing that Lenny's father speaks some Yiddish words, which I represents a typical Jewish family. The author, himself a Jewish Russian immigrant, can sympathize with other immigrants such as Korean in terms of minorities, history and persecution. I don't know what it will happen later in the story, and I am insatiably curious about how Korean culture is seen through American eyes no matter how extreme.
Oops, sorry for my typos. It's from my IPad : p

If a family whose members are all male decorate these dolls, that would be pretty weird. But it is a matter of taste, not of permission or authorization. My two cents.
